What a treat I experienced getting to go to my homeland of Scotland this summer (apparently I could have gotten into several places for free because my last name is Scott haha). I found SO many gluten free options, it made for an easy and delightful trip. First off, I was lucky to share a few emails with the gal who started the http://glutenfreeedinburgh.com/. This is what she said: “Hi Dallas Edinburgh is a great city for gluten free products. You will find that most shops such as Sainsburys, Tescos, Waitrose and the Co-op have a ‘free from’ section and within that … Continue reading Edinburgh, Scotland
I took a break to finish my degree…one B.S. in Anthropology and a 200 hour Yoga teacher training later, I am back and ready to blog! The food in Morocco last summer was delightful. The Tea! Oh the spicy, sweet, strong tea was glorious! Avocado ice cream, date ice cream, tagines, roasted melt in your mouth meats galore, grilled marinated eggplant…lamb brains. Okay the lamb brains were actually one of the grossest tasting things I have ever let in my mouth. It tasted like rotting fish melting like pure fat globs in my mouth. My favorite thing of the whole trip … Continue reading Marrakech, Morocco
Pip’s Place Gluten Free Cakery is a refreshing addition to the world of bakeries in dedicated gluten free spaces. A bit more refinement lingers in the atmosphere and the options behind the immaculately clean glass case. I tested out a sour cream coffee cake, which was delightfully buttery and dense, with a hint of vanilla and a brown sugar crumble. Fresh out of the oven came a feta, sundried tomato, spinach and pumpkin seed savory muffin which melted in my mouth. The lovely owner told me there are two locations in New York as I sipped my steaming house made … Continue reading Pip’s Place Gluten Free Cakery- New York, NY
I asked for an aisle seat, yet here I am staring out the window on my Delta Flight. Thank goodness I brought “the kit,” a small oriental bag from China Town in Los Angeles. Stuffed inside lies an eye mask, one set of earplugs, and headphones. I guess after 40+ flights in your life you would be in favor of actually being comfortable during your entire mile high journey. As a tall person I offer my five reasons as to why swapping that window seat of yours for the aisle is a good idea. And as far as that scene … Continue reading Five Reasons to Swap Your Window Seat for the Aisle

During my magical month on the Hawaiian island of Oahu I’ve had no trouble tracking down some tasty eats, an das da true true. The Souvaly Thai Truck on the north shore is allergy friendly, just be sure to let them know what’s up. They’ve got a mean Tom Kha Gai. http://www.souvalythaicuisinehawaii.com/ Another favorite treat in Hawaii is the refreshing açai bowl. At the Hawaii Health Bar near Waikiki you get this pureed superfood topped with sliced bananas, blueberries, granola, bee pollen, and thick sweet organic honey. It’s simply to die for. No, really. 3045 Monsarrat Ave #5 Honolulu, HI … Continue reading More GF Oahu, Hawaii.
Dear taste buds gods in the cosmos do I love a good slow roasted piece of poultry. While the Huli Huli chicken is plentiful here (Huli in Hawaiian means to flip/turn over)- most of the huli glazes are shoyu based. The difference is that shoyu is soy sauce brewed with wheat, while tamari is brewed without. But then I found Maui Mikes! Located in Wahiawa I was pulled in by my nose hairs crying for a taste! The place was packed as the woman taking orders told me everything served is gluten free minus the teriyaki dipping sauces. I reveled … Continue reading Maui Mikes Fire Roasted Chicken on Oahu, Hawaii
